General books
The adventures of Tom Sawyer, M. Twain (Jan 8 - Jan 15)
A classic, and a bargain at 4 EUR. I had never read the original version before, so here it goes.
Hush Hush, J. Patterson (Jan 22 - Jan 26)
My first Patterson book—pretty good! The characters are really, really good and I enjoyed reading it throughout.
Lost, J. Patterson (Feb 16 - Feb 18)
I decided to continue on the Patternson binge and it didn’t disappoint. Another nice novel that I devoured in a single weekend.
Never let me go, K. Ishiguro (Mar 8 - Mar 23)
The first time ever that I read something from the Nobel graduate. A book that needs time to be digested. I loved how the plot unfolds, disclosing
twists and turns with such a spontaneity that…it makes them feel real. The first person narration only makes it realer.
Even so, the story, that initially seems a bit silly, childish almost, takes a “sinister turn” and touches deep in the vastity of human, and society
behavior. Which surprised me, and left me thinking. Cannot ask more from a book.
Sparring partners, J. Grisham (Mar 29 - Apr 5)
A collection of three not-so-short stories by Grisham, whom I know well. The stories are good, but they end quite abruptly.
Grisham is better on full-novel mode.
Theodore Boone: The activist, J.Grisham (Apr 12 - Apr 18)
I discovered this old series in a bookshop in Malta, EU. I purchased two of them (the other, The Fugitive, is ready on my desk).
In the beginning I was afraid it was going to be a bit too childish for my taste, but it grew well and, overall, I enjoyed it.
The list of suspicious things, J. Godfrey (Apr 21 - Apr 27)
The only good thing about long flights is that one can start and finish a book like this one in a round trip. Nice book (though not exceptional).
Cross down, J. Patterson (Apr 30 - May 2)
Bought in a airport’s bookshop, and finished the next day. Not my favorite of Patterson’s, still better than flights entertainment.
Theodore Boone: The fugitive, J. Grisham (Jun 2 - Jun 5)
The good thing about not reading for an entire month is that the first book after that is devoured.
Technical books
The elements of computing systems, N.Nisan and S. Schocken (Mar 26 - )
WIP
Essays and short stories
Jenny Annie Fanny Addie, A. Levin, The New Yorker (Apr 19)
